He was a pupil of his father, who was musical director. Also he studied under Moscheles, Richter and Hauptmann, at Leipzig Conservatory in 1857-1860,; He was private pupil of Bulow, Kiel and Weitzmann at Berlin in 1862-1864. Also he studied at Stern's Conservatory.
Career
He worked as a director at the New York Trio Club for chamber-concerts in 1866-1888. Then as Music Director at the Ladies' School in Farmington during 1883-1897. And as a private instructor in New York.
