As the only survivor of his family he went to the United States of America in 1948 and became a United States. citizen in 1953. In 1944, he and his family were deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau. Later he was transferred to Mauthausen.

After they became friends in California, they decided to publish the story of their youth and their friendship. Bernat Rosner graduated from Cornell University (1954) and Harvard Law School (1959).
Before retiring in 1994, he was General Counsel of Safeway, Incorporated. (1984–1993), Vice Chair of the Antitrust Section of the American Bar Association (1990-1991), the author of several articles, and a frequent lecturer on the Robinson Patman Acting.
