He is best known for his work on the primetime sitcom "Rules of Engagement" (Sony/Columbia Broadcasting System). His music has been featured in a variety of films and television shows, notably "Parks and Recreation" (National Broadcasting Company), "The Mentalist" (Columbia Broadcasting System), "Laboratory Rats" (Disney) and "Mystery Girls" (American Broadcasting Company Family). At age 16, he joined the Dutch international touring act Van Gunn, and at 17, he moved to the United States with them to tour and record.
Van Gunn got signed to Retone Records in Los Angeles, Selen assumed producer duties on their first record.
As interest for his services mounted, he started working with local and international acts. Broadening his focus to include the television and film business, his songs appeared on national primetime shows such as “Parks and Recreation" (National Broadcasting Company) and "The Mentalist" (Columbia Broadcasting System).
In 2009, at age 23, his work on "Rules of Engagement" (Sony/Columbia Broadcasting System) earned him a BMI Film & television Award for "Composing for a Top Grossing Prime Time Television Show", being the youngest composer in the room. In 2009 he provided original music for the “Artificial Mind and Movement" video game "WET"
In 2011 Selen composed and produced songs for Pee-Wee Herman"s comeback shows on Broadway and at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, produced and recorded a rendition of Mr.
Big"s "To Be with You" with the "Rules of Engagement" cast, and started composing the music for the new Disney Live-action comedy series "Laboratory Rats".
He also scored music for "X-Japan"s" Sankyo promotional video"son In 2011 he co-wrote, produced and mixed the debut album for “Fire in the Hamptons”, a Los Angeles based Electro-popular group, as well as songs for Dutch multi-platinum artist Martin Terporten in a project named Cap Roc. Most recently Selen wrote the Theme Song and Music for American Broadcasting Company Family"s "Mystery Girls", and he is currently providing the score and original songs for "(Disney Channel)""s "(KC Undercover)".
He also formed the music licensing company "Syncatrack", with his frequent collaborator George Ritter.
Selen operates his own Music production company in Studio City, California.
