Bettine Amir was born on January 1, 1934, in Beyrouth, Lebanon. Daughter of Shlomo Kroux and Rachel Kroux.
Bettine Amir attended High School in Beyrouth. She moved to Israel in 1950. She graduated from the Bar-Ilan University (French literature and Philosophy) and School of Painting and Sculpture, Bat Yam (now Bat Yam Art Institute).
Bettine Amir started writing poetry in 1957. Her first poems were published in the literary quarterly "Keshet", in 1959.
Since 1960 held 27 solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions in Israel, Paris, Istanbul, Washington. She worked with the French painter Frederic Delanglade in Paris in 1964.

Bettine Amir was the wife of an Israeli poet, author, and translator Aharon Amir, who was awarded the Israel Prize.
