Dunn, Beverly Charles was born on July 16, 1888 in Fort Monroe, Virginia, United States. Son of Beverly Wyly and Stella (Kilshaw) Dunn.

Served with engineer installations doing flood control and river and harbor improvement work at Rock Island, Illinois, Memphis, Tennessee, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, New Orleans, Louisiana, 1st New York District, Seattle, Washington, Jacksonville, Florida (intercoastal canal from Jacksonville to Miami). Isthmian Canal Commission in Panama, superintendent 13th Lighthouse District.
