He later solidified his position in the team as a defender and was developed by coach John Todd as a tagger He played an important role in the success that Swan Districts experienced during the 1980s. In 1985, Skwirowski represented Western Australia in the state team against South Australia. Retiring in 1988, he played a total of 207 games and kicked 31 goals.
He is a life member of the Swan Districts Football Club.
