William "Billy" Ward born in Whitehaven, was an English professional rugby league football player of the 1910s, playing at representative level for Great Britain, and England, and at club level for Whitehaven, Egremont, and Leeds, as a prop, id est (that is) number 8 or 10, during the era of contested scrums.
