Career
Taking advantage of the misadministration of Regent Taiinkun, she forced him to retire in 1873 and she and her relatives occupied important positions in the Court. Eventually feuded with Taiin-kun. In 1882, in an insurrection many of Bimpi's clique were defeated by the Taiin-kun band. China, fearing that the incident might lead to trouble between China and Japan, arrested Taiin-kun and restored the Bimpi group to power. She lost her prestige with the outbreak of the Sino-Japanese War in 1894. After Russia, France and Germany intervened in Sino-Japanese affairs, Bimpi sided with Russia and showed an,hostile attitude toward Japan. She was assassinated by Japanese soon after Goro Miura went to Seoul as Japanese Minister.
