Birendra Nath Dey

Background

Birendra Nath Dey was born on the 5th of August, 1892 in Calcutta. He was the son of Bhola Nath and Monmohini Devi.

Education

In 1915 Birendra Nath Dey graduated from the Glasgow University and got a Bachelor of Science degree; in 1924 - Glasgow University - Doctor of Science. Fellow: India Society of Engineers (President),

Career

In 1919-1929 Birendra Nath was a consulting engineer in London. In 1929-1945 - chief engineer, special officer & engineering adviser in Calcutta corporation. Since 1945 he was practicing as a consulting engineer. In 1953-1956 he worked for the Government of West Bengal as engineering adviser. In 1954-1957 he was a technical consultant & planning adviser in Calcutta Corporation.

He also was an Indian delegate to First World Metallurgical Congress, U.S.A. (1951); Guest of All-China Federation of Scientific Societies (1955) & All Soviet Union Council of Technological Scientific Societies (1957).
