Bisei Unno

Background

Bisei Unno was born in 1864 in Tokyo. He was the son of Seiju Unno, chaser of the Mito school.

Education

Unno studied metal carving under his father while young and later learned painting from Dōichi Sakai, Gyōsai Kawanabe and Keinen Imao.

Career

Bisei Unno visited England and France twice (in 1900 and in 1910). Taught as professor at Tokyo Academy of Fine Arts until his death.
