Blazej Tomasz Skoczen, Polish engineering educator, researcher. Member of Polish Academy of Sciences (Warsaw) (member, committee mechanics since 2007).


Skoczen, Blazej Tomasz was born on December 26, 1960 in Stary Sacz, Poland. Son of Stanislaw and Izabela Maria Skoczen.

Assistant professor Cracow University of Technology, 1984—1992, associate professor, 1992—1995, dean's deputy international relations, 2005—2008, professor, faculty mechanical engineering, since 2005, head, Center Particle Accelerators Design, since 2007, head, Institute Applied Mechanics, since 2009. Science associate European Organization of Nuclear Research European Organization Nuclear Research, Geneva, 1995—1998, senior science staff member, 1998—2005, section leader, 2000—2005. Visiting professor Institute Français Mécanique Avancée, Clermont-Ferrand, France, 2006.


  • Achievements include first to thermo-mechanical compensation system and superconducting link to power corrector magnets in the interconnections of large hadron collider. Design of superconducting magnet, magnet interconnections in the large hadron collider. Development of assembling technologies for the interconnections.

    Research in constitutive models of materials applied at the temperatures close to absolute zero.
