Career
Burns is a Republican who was elected from District 9 and resides in Peoria. Burns also served as chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee. Burns played a key role in the development of the Arizona Telemedicine Council, initiating the legislation that created it, and serving as the first co-chairman of the council.
In 2012 Burns was elected to the Arizona Corporation Commission.
