Career
Chitty played much of his junior and armature football for his home town of Cudgewa. Chitty made his debut for the Carlton Football Club in Round 7 of the 1937 season. Chitty left the club after the 1946 season.
In 1951 Chitty starred as Ned Kelly in the feature film The Glenrowan Affair.
After leaving Melbourne he spent some time in both Benalla and Scottsdale as a captain-coach.
