Haozous studied at Utah State University before enlisting in the United States Navy, where he served for four years on board of the United States Ship Frank Knox during the Vietnam War. After the war, Haozous attended the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, California, where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in sculpture in 1971.
He is enrolled in the Fort Sill Apache Tribe. As a child, Haozous spent time in Apache, Oklahoma, his tribe"s headquarters. Education and military service As an emerging artist, Haozous exhibited at the annual SWAIA Santa Fe Indian Market, from 1971 until 1991.
He moved on to a world stage and has participated in the Venice Biennale in Venice, Italy, in both 1999 and 2001.
