    • Played with Curtis Amy and Charles Lloyd prior to 1961. Associate with Blue Note school of experimentation. Co-leader quintet with Harold Land, 1969-1971.

      Solo performer, since 1971. Performed with Andrew Hill, Anthony Williams, Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tynes, Eric Dolphy. Albums include Linger Lane, Dialogue, Happenings, Components, Stick-Up!, Total Eclipse, The View from Inside, Four Seasons, Dance of the Sun.
