Bonnie Urquhart Gruenberg is well known in midwifery circles as the author of the award-winning book Birth Emergency Skills Training. Born in Rhode Island in 1963, she was raised in Southington, Connecticut, and later worked as a paramedic in central Connecticut. After attending the University of Pennsylvania to obtain a Master of Science in Nursing in midwifery, she authored two books on managing childbirth emergencies: Essentials of Prehospital Maternity Care for Express Mail Service providers, and Birth Emergency Skills Training for out-of-hospital midwives.
Since 1994, Gruenberg has researched and photographed, and written about the wild horse herds which inhabit certain Atlantic Coast barrier islands.
The Wild Horse Dilemma: Conflicts and Controversies of the Atlantic Coast Herds, is her most comprehensive book on the topic. She resides in south-central Pennsylvania where she is in practice as a certified nurse-midwife.
