Career
He began his career with his hometown team the Krefeld Pinguine playing 11 games during the 1999-2000 season. His other DEL experience prior to joining the Lions was with the Essen Mosquitoes during the 2001-2002 season where he played 21 games. He joined to the Frankfurt Lions in 2004 from the Dresdner Eislöwen.
In the season 2008/2009 he went to the Netherlands to the Nijmegen Devils.
2009/2010 he came back to Germany to play one season for the Rote Teufel Bad Nauheim in the Deutsche Eishockey Oberliga. 2010/2011 Ackers changed to the EHC Dortmund.
Now he plays for the Löwen Frankfurt.
