Career
1923-1926 professor, Dnepropetrovsk University and senior geologist, Geological Committee. 1930-1939 professor of geology, Leningrad University. 1939-1950 professor, Kiev University and director, Institute of Geology, Llkr Academy of Sciences.
From 1945 also vicc-president, Ukraine Academy of Sciences. Specialized in stratigraphy and invertebrate fauna of Donets, Kuznets and other coal-bearing basins. Made major contribution to study of litte-knwon group of paleozoic arthropods and molluses.
