1904 expelled from Kiev University because of part in student disturbances. Continued medical training in Leipzig. Studied clinical aspects and pathomorphology of diseases of the spinal cord, metastatic cancer of central nervous system, and secondary neural infections in measles and typhoid, etc.
Studied tumors originating from the epiphysis. First to describe liquorrhea nasalis in cerebral tumors. Founded and directed journal “Sovremennaya psikhonevrologiya” (Modern Psychoneurology).
Member, Editor Council, journals: “Nevropatologiya i psikhiatriya im. S. S. Korsakova” (Korsakov Journal of Neuropathology and Psychiatry) and “Klinicheskaya meditsina” (Clinical Medicine). For many years Chairman, Learned Medicine Council, Ukrainia Ministry of Health. Deputy Kiev City Soviet. Deputy Chairman, All-Union, and Chairman, Ukrainia and Kiev Society of Neuropathologists and Psychiatrists.
Until 1922 intern, Assistant, then lecturer, Chair of Nervous Diseases, Kiev University. 1922-1941 Head, Chair of Nervous Diseases, Kiev Postgraduate Medicine Institute. 1931-1950 Science Director, Kiev Psychoneurological Research Institute, founded by him, and Blastomatosis Clinic of this institutes.
