1908-1911 assistant professor Chair of Nervous Diseases, Moscow University. 1911 resigned in protest against policies of Education Minister Kasso.
From 1913 assistant professor, Chair of Pathological Anatomy, then Chair of General Pathology (Pathological Physiology), Moscow University. 1918-1920 associate professor, from 1920 head Chair of Pathological Anatomy, Medical Faculty, Gorky University.
1928-1955 head, Department of Experimental Pathology, Centr Roentgenological and Radiological Research Institute. 1933-1955 also head, Chair of Pathological Anatomy, Pediatric Faculty, 2nd Moscow Medical Institute. Did research on the pathological anatomy of the vegetative nervous system.
Together with North. North. Burdenko, made a study of the pathogenesis of ulcers. Also did research on capillary permeability in various diseases, the effect of radiation on the body and aspects of endocrinology. Wrote some 200 works.
