Developed several original operation methods. First in USSR to operate for cancer of the esophagus. Developed new plastic operations, e. g.: replacement of affected esophagus section in cases of cardiospasm by a diaphragmal pedicle graft, stitching the diaphragm graft into the constricted section of the esophagus.
Diaphragmoplasty by polyvinyl alcohol in the treatment of diaphragmal relaxation, etc. Popularized new method of blood transfusion into the aorta in cases of severe shock. Devised various modifications of operations on the heart and major vessels, e. g.: application of a supporting semipursestring suture on the fibrous ring of the mitral valve for eliminating mitral insufficiency.
Exsection or dissection of the stenotic portion of the pulmonary artery with subsequent artificial arteriectasis in Fallot’s tetrad. Replacement of an injured heart wall by a diaphragmal graft in aneurism of the heart. One of the first Soviet surgeons to replace major arteries by plastic tubes.
1949-1951 Professor, and 1951-1956 Head, Chair of Faculty Surgery, Pediatric Faculty, 2nd Moscow Medicine Institute. Simultaneously Chief Surgeon, 4th Main Board, USSR Ministry of Health.
