1899 graduate Khar’kov University.
While a student engaged in illegal political work. Exiled to Kovno Province. Then worked as zemstvo distr physician in Saratov, then Khar'kov Province.
1903, to escape arrest, emigrated to Germany and worked at Bergmann, Israel and Czerny's clinics. 1906 returned to Russia and worked as intern, 1st Moscow Municipal Hospital. After 1917 October Revol headed Public Health Department, Zamoskvorcch’ye Soviet and was comissar of theapeutic establishments.
1919-1920 appointed chairman, Extraordinary Commission to Combat Epidemics on Turkcstani and Southwestern Fronts. From 1922 chief physician, 2nd Moscow Municipal Hospital (now named for him) and professor, 2nd Moscow Medical Institute. Studied clinical syndromes of disease and its pathological features.
Contributed to organisation of Soviet health service. Company-founder, Moscow First Aid Institute. Helped organize system of medical home care for patients.
Member, Sciences and Technical Section, State Learned Council, People's Commissariat of Education. Board member, Moscow Surgical Social and All-Union Association of Surgeons. From 1924 chairman, Centr Bureau, Physicians Section, Union of Medical and Health Workers.
Wrote numerous works on pathoanatomy and surgery. Helped treat Lenin.
