The authors' aim in preparing this book has been to provide a practical, problem-oriented approach to the pathologic diagnosis of hepatic and biliary disorders. This updated edition discusses such topics as the indications for obtaining different types of hepatic specimens, clinicopathologic entities, such as hepatitis, fatty liver, and AIDS, and paediatric hepatic pathology. The pathologic features of the various conditions are described, often with tables included for differential diagnosis. Careful consideration has been given to the roles of clinical data, immunopathology, electron microscopy, microbiology, and biochemistry in reaching a diagnosis. While the book may be read straight through, it is also intended to assist the physician faced with a particular constellation of data in defining the differential diagnosis and in making the diagnosis.
