Boris Maryshev studied at the secondary school of Vorontsovka, Voronezh region. In 1961 he graduated from the Agricultural School (Usman, Lipetsk Region), and then in 1967 from the Kazakhstan State University, Faculty of Journalism (Alma-Ata).
After graduating from the Agricultural School, Boris Maryshev worked as an agronomist in the Kemerovo region. Later as a mechanic and a loader in Temirtau, Karaganda region. He also worked as a journalist and in a publishing trade in Arkalyk, Kazakhstan SSR. His works were published in the magazine "Molodaya Gvardiya", "Prostor", "Pod'em", also in the weekly cultural and political newspaper "Literaturnaya Gazeta" and some collective editions. Boris Maryshev is the compiler of a digest "Nasha Magnitka" (Alma-Ata, 1983). He is also the author of collections of stories: "Ne izmeni sebe" (Alma-Ata, 1982), "Eryishovskie muzhiki" (Voronezh, 2000), the documentary books "Soldatyi Rossii iz Eryishovki" (Voronezh, 2000). Boris Maryshev also worked as a Uyghur translator.
