In 1967, B. Morukov graduated from the Moscow secondary school No. 563.
In June 1973 – graduated from the 2nd Moscow Order of Lenin State Medical Institute (MOLSMI) named after N.I. Pirogov.
From September 1975 to August 1978, B. Morukov pursued his post-graduate full-time studies at the IBMP.
On January 19, 1979, B. Morukov got his PhD in Medical Science at the IBMP.
In 1999 – received the Doctor of Medical Science degree majoring in ‘Aviation, Space and Maritime Medicine’.
From 1973 to 1975, B. Morukov occupied the position of Senior Laboratory Assistant at the IBMP. From September 1978 to April 1984 – worked as a Research Associate at the IBMP. B. Morukov assisted in conducting medical check-ups of cosmonauts on the Salyut-6 space station. From 1979 to 1980, B. Morukov worked as a space medicine expert and as the Shift Director of the Medical Support Unit at the MCC.
Since April 1984 – held the position of the IBMP Senior Researcher. In December 1988, B. Morukov became Head of the Department at the IBMP.
On January 25, 1989, B. Morukov joined the IBMP cosmonaut team.
From October 1990 to January 1992 – took a basic space training course at the Cosmonaut Training Center (CTC). On February 7, 1992, by decision of the Interdepartmental Qualification Committee (MVKK), B. Morukov got the Cosmonaut Researcher rank. On March 1, 1992, he was appointed Cosmonaut Researcher and became head of the corresponding IBMP department.
From January to July 1993, B. Morukov underwent training course at the CTC within a group comprised of V. Polyakov and G. Arzamazov. From October 1997 to February 1998, he continued training at the CTC this time together with V. Karashtin and V. Lukyanyuk.
In 2000, B. Morukov became Commander of the IBMP cosmonaut team.
In December 1998 – was chosen for the space shuttle mission STS-101 (later STS-106). On January 10, 1999, B. Morukov started training for the spaceflight at the Johnson Space Center (JSC). In February 2000, the cosmonaut started training together with his crew mates.
From September 8 to September 20, 2000, B. Morukov flew aboard the Atlantis STS-106 (ISS-2A.2b) space shuttle. On September 10, the shuttle docked with the unmanned ISS. The crew members unloaded the Progress M1-3 spacecraft and carried out a spacewalk. On September 18, after conducting all necessary work on the space station, Atlantis undocked from the ISS. On September 20, the shuttle landed at Kennedy Space Center.
The flight duration: 11 days, 19 hours, 11 minutes.
According to the order of the IBMP director dated November 13, 2007. B. Morukov was dismissed from the position of Cosmonaut Researcher and Cosmonaut Team Commander.
