Hailing from Tripura, Hrangkhawl is the first rap artist from the state to make it to the limelight. He frequently performs and freestyles at various events in and around New Delhi. BK"s music is all about blending and collaborating with other artists from different musical backgrounds and together creating music
His songs are based on life, including themes of struggles against discrimination, racism, and injustice.
Currently on the process of completing his Debut Album, "The Journey". Shortly after graduating from Saint John"s Higher Secondary School, Shillong in 2006, he moved to New Delhi and enrolled at the University of Delhi.
BK is the only son of Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawl, who is currently the president of Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra and an active social worker campaigning for the rights of indigenous tribal inhabitants in the northeastern Indian state of Tripura. He started the musical career with his formerly New Delhi based hip-hop group DropSquad, which was signed by India"s leading music label Times Music in 2010, upon winning the nationwide talent hunt "Supastars" from North Zone round.
That same year, he was personally invited by the acclaimed Punjabi singer Jasbir Jassi to be the opening act for the releasing event of Jassi"s 8th album, "Jassi – Back with a Bang".
Chini Haa means "Our Land" in Kokborok dialect, the dialect of the Tiprasas. Borkung Hrangkhawl announced on 4 January 2013 via his Facebook page that he would be releasing a solo debut album "The Journey", with a release date set for the summer of 2013. The music video sang in English, Hrangkhawl and Hindi from the upcoming album title "The Journey" (feat Hag"ai Rongmei from The Mangalz) was uploaded on YouTube on 31 January 2013.
He was also one of the opening act"s for Hoobastank Maiden India Show,In Shillong, 2013.
In December 2012, BK released his single"s "The Roots (Chini Haa)" music video on YouTube and it generated over 100,000 hits in less than 3 weeks and holding 142,200 views as of November 2015.Thee song talked about the present socio-political situation of the minority indigenous people of Tripura. The video went viral and raked in more than 865,000 YouTube views in just over a month, making it one of the fastest-spreading indie music video in Indian entertainment history.
