Background
"BHD" is the Founder of TennisPolice.com, a University of Southern California Trojan where he studied Kinesiology, and a Southern Cal native who grew up on a tennis court, riding motorcycles and playing golf and ice-hockey. Hansen-Dent is the son of Bettyann Grubb, former University of California, Los Angeles Bruin and Top 10 Women's Tennis Association player in the 70"son Bettyann is the sister of Barbara Grubb-May, the mother of two-time Olympic Champion Misty May.
Brett is the step-son of Australian Davis Cup player Philosophy Dent, and half-brother of former Association of Tennis Professionals tennis professional Taylor Dent.
Career
A short Association of Tennis Professionals career due to knee injuries. In 1991-1992 seasons Hansen-Dent played collegiate tennis for the University of California, Irvine. In 1995 National Collegiate Athletic Association Singles Runner-up to Sargis Sargisian and earned All-American honors again, for both singles and doubles.
Hansen-Dent was given a wildcard at the 1995 United States Open and played Russian Alexander Volkov in a first round.
Reached the second round in the men"s doubles, with Jon Leach. They defeated the Dutch pairing of Richard Krajicek and January Siemerink.
His two other Grand Slam appearances were both in the men"s doubles, at the 1996 United States Open (with TJ Middleton) and 1997 Australian Open (with Brian MacPhie. During his professional career,and had his best year on the doubles tour in 1996.
Hansen-Dent was a mixed doubles goal medalist at the 1991 Summer Universiade in Sheffield.
Hansen-Dent was unable to repeat these efforts in 1997 due to a knee injury, which required surgery. Doubles: (3).
Membership
Transferred to the University of Southern California in 1994, Hansen-Dent was 23-0, All-American and member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association championship winning team He was also a member of the American squad which competed at the Pan American Games that year, in Havana, Cuba.
