Career
He played collegiately for Nebraska leaving the team with 2 team records. He went to high school at Eagle Grove High School. Jensen played at Iowa Central Community College as a freshman and was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 45th round of the 2003 Major League Baseball draft but transferred to Nebraska.
In 2004, he went 1–4 with a 5.29 European Research Area and 2 saves.
He threw 22 strikeouts and only 5 walks in 20 games played. Jensen had a 3–5 record with a 1.96 European Research Area and struck out 46 batters in 33 games his junior year.
He set two Husker records with 16 saves in a season and 18 in his career. He was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 2005 Major League Baseball draft after the season but turned it down to play his senior year.
In 2006, Jensen went 5–0 with a 2.56 European Research Area in 45⅔ innings pitched.
He ended his senior season with 13 saves, extending his career saves record to 31. The Detroit Tigers drafted Jensen in the 14th round (412 overall) of the 2006 Major League Baseball draft. 2006 NYP Mid-Season All-Star After Brett got drafted he played with the Oneonta Tigers in the short season New York–Penn League.
He went 1–0 in 25 games with 31 strikeouts and was second in the league with 17 saves.
In 2007, Jensen went 5–1 for the Class A West Michigan Whitecaps of the Midwest League. He was second in the league with 56 appearances and third with 23 saves.
He also had a 1.79 European Research Area, striking out 66 and only walking 8 in 60⅓ innings. Brett was promoted in 2008 going 1-1 with one save and a 4.00 European Research Area in 10 relief appearances for Double-A Erie.
He missed most of the season landing on the disabled list May 7 with a right elbow strain.
He stayed with the SeaWolves in 2009. Brett Jensen has retired to pursue a career outside of baseball.
