Beedenbender was selected as the Democrat nominee to run for Brookhaven Supervisor after Mark Lesko vacates his seat to become the Executive Director of Accelerate Long Island in September 2012. Beedenbender lives in Centereach and grew up in Selden. He received his Bachelor"s degree from James Madison University and his Master"s degree from the University of Delaware.
Beedenbender started as an intern to Congressman Tim Bishop and later served as an aide to County Executive Steve Levy.
During his term as Suffolk County Legislator, Beedenbender sponsored legislation to create Suffolk County Open Access, a website where residents and constituents can view financial and ethical information for governments and elected officials. He focused on veterans issues, creating a program to help veterans facing foreclosure and secured funding for a veteran"s monument, and also worked on quality of life issues such as roads and parks.
Beedenbender served as Chair of the Public Works and Transportation Committee. Beedenbender also made proposals to the Brookhaven Town Board to streamline Town services and encourage public-private partnerships to save the Town money.
