Background
Briana Nicole Fury was born on August 10, 1998 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to T.W, a federal agent. Briana’s name originated from a book. The feminine form of Brian, which is believed to be of Celtic origin and of the meaning “strength”.
At the age of five, Ms. Williams enrolled Briana in dance classes where she discovered her passion for dance. At the age of six, Briana was double booked with dance and her new found talent, basketball. She was the only girl on a basketball team full of boys.
Gaining respect and following her older brother, G.R.’s footsteps, she joined Track and Field and the cheer squad within the same organization as her basketball league. Becoming one of the fastest on her track team, Briana qualified for the 50-yard dash, where she was placed on a pedestal to lead her team to victory.
After the end of her fifth season, Briana took time away from sports and attended Walter D. Palmer Middle School in Philadelphia, where she stayed enrolled in dance. She was heavily enforced by her dance instructor who was also her school teacher. In 2010, Briana’s dance instructor explained that she was elite on the dance team and offered her a position on the competition team. Joining the competition team meant taking all dance classes, (ballet, jazz, house, hip-hop and contemporary), with practice 7 days a week, while traveling to different competition venues, city by city.
At the age of fourteen, Briana attended Leadership Prep, where she began her journey of learning herself. She took time away from dance to discover her all-around talents, like singing and playing the piano. Fury took piano lessons for about six months, executing the hobby but shortly realized it wasn’t her passion. She took to Youtube to display her singing talent and decided to receive lessons, where the instructor explained that she had an ear for music. Though Briana had many talents and executed each with ease, she didn’t feel any of them were her personal legends, (purpose in the world).
By the age sixteen, Briana graduated high school and created her very first website, selling clothing items. Though she didn’t know why she wanted to start her brand (Melanin Girls) at the time, she felt at home when working to create it and enjoyed putting all of her ideas and visions into perspective. By 2018, Briana had schooled herself in the business world and created something for the books, the Nicole’s Fury lifestyle brand.
At the age of nine, while her mother was at work and her older brother was busy playing video games, Briana created a yard sale on the front lawn of her suburban home. She used all of her learning books and placed prices on each of them for customers to purchase. Though she didn’t receive any sales, Briana’s mother was surprised at the scene. She states “I couldn't believe a nine-year-old would do such a thing. I was extremely surprised.”
At the age of thirteen, Fury obliviously tried a similar act posting flyers around her neighborhood explaining that she’d walk the residents in the neighborhood’s dogs for a small fee. Caught again by her mother, Williams states “I could only laugh, I knew I had a piece of work on my hands. She was determined and extremely driven. I just didn’t understand where it came from. These things were so random.”
