Went out to South Africa on special service, November 1899.
Appointed Brigade - Major to MajorGeneral Smith Dorrien, February 1900. Afterwards served on General Smith Dorrien’s Staff as Assistant-Adjutant-General (despatches twice, Queen's medal and 4 clasps, King’s medal and 2 clasps).
Decorated 1037 for South African campaign. - General Francis Seymour, Companion of the Distinguished Service Order 1900.
