King earned an AB from Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, in 1956. He attended it also from 1951 to 1954. From 1954 to 1955 he attended the Sorbonne in Paris, where he received a Degré Supérieur from Cours de Civilisation. He also earned a diploma from Saint Andrews College at Autoro, Ontario, in 1951.
King is the president of several businesses: Washbum-Garfield Company (since 1956), Black Ice Publishers (since 1972) and Waites Industrial (since 1979). He has also been on the board of directors of Wyman-Gordon Company since 1979. His images appear regularly in Natural History, Country fournal and The Worcester Telegram and Gazette.
