Bruce Patterson received his Bachelor of Arts in 1973 from Haverford College, Haverford, Pennsylvania. In 1974 he studied at Cooper Union in New York City, then earned his Master of Arts in 1976 from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque.
Since 1976 Bruce Patterson has been vice-president of ferrous operations at Patterson Iron and Metal Co., Dayton. He takes elements of traditional landscape photography and proceeds to destroy them by ripping, writing, and painting on the pictures.
