Background
Chapman was born and raised in Carmel, Indiana but at the age of 13 moved to Kentucky to live with her mother and stepfather for four years, before returning to Carmel High School for her senior year.

During this time she was very active as a spokesperson for the American Diabetes and American Heart Associations. Chapman completed her undergraduate degree in Vocal Performance at the Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana, and continued on to pursue a master"s degree at Miami University in Ohio. She changed her name and is known as soprano singer Bryn Vertesi.
Since 2009, she has lived in Europe, performing as an operatic Soprano, and working as a Web presence project manager.
Whilst living in Kentucky Chapman won the Mission Louisville 2002 title and placed first runner-up to Mission Kentucky 2002. She represented Kentucky in the Mission National Sweetheart pageant for Mission America state runners-up held in September 2003, and placed third runner-up. In 2003, having returned to Indiana, Chapman won the Mission South Central title and then Mission Indiana 2003. She represented Indiana in the Mission America 2004 competition held in Atlantic City in September 2003 and placed in the top ten at the nationally televised pageant.
