Buncho Ippitsusai was born in 1770.
Buncho Ippitsusai lived during the Edo Period. In his early age he studied the painting of Kano school, but later turned to Ukiyoe wood prints and gained a reputation as an artist of paintin,g beautiful women and actors. One of his paintings was influenced by Harunobu Suzuki. Later working with Ilaruaki Suzuki published Ehon Butcui Ogi (album of actors and stage stars) and won great fame (1770). Was also a good writer and excelled in waka poetry. Is said to have painted wood prints between 1764-1780.
