Career
Entered Mercantile Marine, 1865. Joined Royal Naval Reserve as Sub-Lieutenant 1879. Lieutenant 1882; retired with rank of Commander, 1894.
Commanded a transport during the Burmah Expedition of 18S5-86.
Was subsequently in the Egyptian Coast Guard Service. Assessor for Formal Investigations into Shipping Casualties.
Inspector to Board of Trade for Marine Inquiries. Nautical Assessor to His (or Her) Majesty Court of Appeal, Supreme Court of Judicature, 1903-South. Nautical Assessor to His (or Her) Majesty Privy Council.
Member of Council of Royal United Service Institution since 1900, and Chairman of its Museum Committee.
Deputy Chairman of Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society. Honourable Treasurer of Saint Andrew"s Waterside Church Mission to Sailors.
Member of Council of the Curates’ Augmentation Fund. Director of the Sailors’ Home (London Docks).
Fellow of Royal Astronomical and Royal Geographical Societies, and Fellow, Secretary, and ex - Vice - President of Royal Meteorological Society. 1897; Royal Naval Reserve. O. son of late Warren Caborne.
