Joined Oxford militia, 1858. Served in the Embodiment during Indian Mutiny, and again in the Embodiment during the war in South Africa. Commanded the 4th Battalion Oxfordshire Light Infantry 10 years, having had an extension of 5 years granted.
Retired 1901.
Mentioned in Honour List, 1902. And granted a C. B. for militia services. Managed the late Empress of Austria’s stud, and piloted Her Majesty during her stay at Combermere Abbey.
