Began in machine shop American Rolling Mill Company, Middletown, Ohio, 1904, successively pump tender, foreman boiler house, assistant superintendent of sheet mill, supervisor betterment department and assistant to general superintendent, became treasurer, 1921, assistant general manager, 1926, vice president, 1930, director from 1926, member finance committee since 1927, executive vice president and general manager, 1938, chairman finance committee, 1947. General consultant from 1948. Industrial Advisor to General MacArthur as deputy chief Economics and Science Section of Supreme Commander of Allied Powers, 1949.

Chairman First National Bank, Middletown. Chairman, member board directors Business International, Cincinnati Gas & Electric Company.
