Shipp was born on November 10, 1903 in Dallas, Texas, United States; the son of Bartlett Shipp and Prue (Crouse) Shipp.
Shipp educated at Virginia Episcopal School in 1920-1921. Also he studied at the University of North Carolina and Columbia University.
Shipp began his career as a reporter for Times-News in 1921 and held it for two years. In 1925, he took a position of an editor for Forest Hills-Kew Gardens Post. Seven years later Cameron held the same position at Winter Garden Journal.
In 1933, he was appointed a news editor for Cleveland Star. Then in 1935, Shipp became a literature editor and dramatic critic for Charlotte News. Four years later he took a position of a Southeastern publicity director at Warner Brothers Pictures, Inc. In 1940, Cameron became a feature writer of publicity department at Warner Brothers Studio. Also he was a writer for the Saturday Evening Post.
Shipp was a member of American Arthurs League and Society of Magazine Writers.
Cameron Shipp was married to Caroline Harriet Koenig. They had two children.
