Took holy orders in Diocese of Winchester, 1877. Since 1880 has devoted himself to Elementary Education as Principal of the Salisbury Training College and Life Member of the Diocesan Board of Education. He was Secretary of the Salisbury Schools Association, under whose auspices £15,000 was raised to build eight new church school departments in the city.
In 1890 Bishop Wordsworth gave him the Prebendal stall of Warminster in Salisbury Cathedral. Principal, Training College for Teachers, Salisbury, and Rector of Boyton and Sherrington, Wiltshire.
