He played only 2 games for the Jazz, in their first season (1979-1980) reincarnated as the Utah Jazz since the franchise relocated from New Orleans, Louisiana to Salt Lake City, Utah. In the 1980-1981 season, Kilpatrick played 22 games for Tampereen Pyrintö of Finland. The team went to the Master of Science-sarja finals, where they lost to Torpan Pojat and gained silver medals.
