Carla Sinclair was born on August 15, 1964, in Hollywood, Alabama, United States.
The start of Carla Sinclair’s career can be counted from 1988 when she created Boing Boing, a zany print ‘zine’ now available only online. Since then, Sinclair has contributed to publications, such as Wired and Craft magazine, and edited, with her husband and Gareth Branwyn, The Happy Mutant Handbook. Sinclair’s conviction that the Internet is not just for the old boys of the online world led her to write ‘Net Chick: A Smart-Girl Guide to the Wired World’ in 1996. She wished to dispel the myth of males as the only users of the Internet.
Sinclair has wound her way across the World Wide Web and has covered everything from cyberpunk, virtual reality, smart drugs, and chaos theory to cyberpeople, places, and subcultures while editing pieces for Boing Boing and for other media.

1997Quotations: "Women who are happy and healthy with the choices they’ve made – whether it’s working full time, being a stay-at-home mom, balancing motherhood and a career, or some other combination – are inspirational to me. In this busy task-oriented culture that we live in, it’s easy to be thrown off balance, and I’m always grateful and inspired by other women who are doing what they love with strength and happiness. And I do notice that these women always seem to be organized, focused, and have healthy habits that they follow."
Carla Sinclair is married to a blogger, illustrator, and journalist Mark Frauenfelder. They have two young daughters.
