She graduated from Madison West High School before attending the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and the University of Michigan.
Career
Buettner later joined the faculty of Fox Valley Technical College. In 1987, she was elected to the Senate in a special election and would remain a member until 1991. She was a Republican.
