Carolyn Chalmers began her career as a Fulbright tutor at Sri Padmavathi Women's College, Tirupathi, India, in 1968. She worked there for a year and in 1977 became an adjunct assistant professor at College Liberal Arts, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, where he worked till 1983. From 1979 to 1981 Chalmers was an adjunct lecturer at Law School, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.
