He returned to Davenport to complete his training in the office of Clausen & Krause. Mr. Klein continued in the employ of the firm until the start of World War I, when he enlisted in the service of the U. S. Navy. In 1919 he re¬entered the office of Clausen & Kruse, later was taken into partnership, and continued practice in that association over a period of eighteen years, connected with a number of important works in his native state and western Illinois.
In 1938 Mr. Klein retired from architectural practice to purchase a controlling interest in the firm of W. S. Holbrook & Company of Davenport, and devoted his remaining years to interior decoration and furniture design, a field of work in which he was highly successful.
