Casey Claybourne was born in Phoenix, Arizona, United States, into the family of Marty Stephens.
Casey received her degree in nineteenth century French Literature from the University of California Berkeley.
Casey Claybourne published her first novel in 1993. Most of Casey Claybourne’s romance novels feature reluctant lovers, the English countryside, and ghosts.
The reluctant lover in Claybourne’s first novel, "The Devil's Darling", is an English earl who flees to the country to avoid London’s marriage-minded females; once there, he falls for Olivia, whose only interest is in using his connections to procure a much-needed doctor for the village. Before long, however, Olivia’s hidden desires surprise her. In "My Lucky Lady", published in the same year, Lord Campton is headed to sea, away from London’s smart set, when he discovers a scruffy waif hiding in his trunk; she is trying to escape an arranged marriage.
In "A Ghost of a Chance", written in 1996, the mother-in-law-to-be tries to stop daughter Daphne’s arranged marriage to Iain Ashingford, the Marquess Lindley. She fails. They marry. But between the ceremony and the reception, Iain walks off without a word. Isadore, now a bona fide mother-in-law, collapses and dies. Caught in the afterlife, she is given one chance to enter Heaven. Her assignment: to haunt her son-in-law until he falls in love with Daphne.
In "Nick of Time", which appeared in 1997, a London detective’s car crashes in a cemetery during a storm. Nick DaCosta, badly injured, thinks he is about to lose his life and falls into a coma. When he wakens, it is in the body of a dandy named Godfrey Woodbaine in the year 1810. Godfrey has been thrown from his horse. His unconscious body is stumbled upon by his wife Anna, who so despises him that she almost leaves him for dead on the Dover coast. As he recovers, Anna finds him to be not so horrible as before, and Nick becomes enchanted as well.
In the 1997 novel "A Spirited Seduction", the protagonist Sabrina decides to seduce the Viscount Colbridge, a notorious rake. She cares little for romantic love, and knows even less about it; intelligent and pragmatic, a scholar devoted to contemporary women’s rights advocacy, she is about to lose her home and will do whatever she must to save it. One stormy night, she inadvertently summons the ghost of Nell de Nuit, a famous London madam, whose effective lessons in seduction lead Sabrina and her viscount to learn about love. In “Keeping Faith”, a short story appearing in Christmas Spirits in 1997, an orphaned girl is befriended by a ghost and helps a grieving husband and wife find love again. Once again, the setting is Regency London.

2000Quotations: "When people talk about “launching” a line, I tend to think nautical. I picture an author standing over her computer poised to smash a bottle of Dom Perignon against her keyboard. Of course, that’s not quite how it’s done, although launching a new line is usually cause for celebration."
Casey enjoys gardening, reading, yoga, and walking.
Mother to two children and an assortment of rescue dogs, Casey lives in Northern California with her husband.
