Born in Louisiana, he currently lives in New New York His family moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida in 1986. After graduating from FSU, Shea moved to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue a career in songwriting and singing.
In January 2004, he moved to New York City.
His debut solo album "Take The Bite" which blended Folk music, rock, and psychedelia was released in 2006, and he signed with indie label Family Records in 2007. During the first six months of 2009, he released a 3-sided single each month as a project called ABCs.
Many of those recordings made up his second solo album "Love Is Here To Stay" which was released in 2010. His third album "In Your Head" was released in November 2011.
His song "Roll Your Windows Down" was featured on the Season 6 finale of the television Show One Tree Hill.
In July 2010 his song "Wave Of Walls", from the album "Love Is Here To Stay", was used on the episode "The Monster Within" of the American Broadcasting Company drama The Gates. In September 2010 his song "Good Manitoba", from the album "Love Is Here To Stay", was used on the episode "The Space In Between" on season 8 of One Tree Hill. In August 2011, his song "Can"t Get Enough" was used on the episode "The Benefit Of The Mute Button" on the first season of the National Broadcasting Company romantic sitcom Friends With Benefits.
His songs "Love Is Here To Stay" and "The World Is Waking Up" were featured in the independent documentary "Mr.
Rogers And Maine" which was released on Public Broadcasting Service Digital Video Disc in March 2012 and aired on 27 Public Broadcasting Service affiliates. In June 2012, his song "Can"t Get Enough" from the album "In Your Head" was featured in the opening scene of the episode "To Swerve And Protect" on the United States of America Network drama Necessary Roughness.
He has been described by The New York Times as "hushed and hopeful."
Casey recorded a cover version of System of a Down"s "Chop Suey!" for Engine Room Recordings" compilation album Guilt by Association Volume 1, which was released in September 2007.
In March 2010, Shea filled in for Joe Hawley of Tally Hall during Tally Hall"s March tour with Jukebox the Ghost and Skybox.
