Morris, Caspar, , Pennsylvania 1805 1884 Male Physician physician, was born in Philadelphia, Pa. , the third son of Israel Wistar and Mary (Hollingsworth) Morris, and a descendant of Anthony Morris, 1654-1721 [q. v. ].
His father was a prosperous merchant.
Education
He attended private schools, the Pine Street Meeting House, David Dulles' school in Church Alley, and the William Penn Charter School.
Later he studied medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and was graduated in 1826.
Career
While attending the school of medicine he studied also with Dr. Joseph Parrish.
He was appointed physician of the Philadelphia Dispensary soon after his return.
A list of his writings includes An Appeal on Behalf of the Sick (1851); Lectures on Scarlet Fever (1851); An Essay on the Pathology and Therapeutics of Scarlet Fever (1858); an abridgment (1838) of Robert I. Wilberforce's life of William wilberforce; and a small volume of poems, privately printed, entitled Heart Voices and Home Songs.
His contribution, "Hospital Construction and Organization, " was published in Hospital Plans: Five Essays Relating to the Construction, Organization and Management of Hospitals (1875).

Religion
Morris was a member of the National Academy of Sciences (1829 - 38) and of the American Philosophical Society (1851 - 60), and a fellow of the College of Physicians.
Politics
After his graduation he traveled to India as surgeon on the Pacific, returning to Philadelphia in 1828.
Connections
Suffering an impairment of his health in 1868, he never fully regained his strength thereafter and died in 1884, having survived his wife by three years.
