Chambers Stevens was born on June 10, 1968, in Hendersonville, Tennessee, United States, to Austin Chambers, a car salesman, and Norma (Stevens) Chambers.
In 1982, Stevens graduated from Hendersonville High School. The same year, he studied the Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in acting.
Since Stevens graduated from college, he has made his living solely from acting, writing, and directing. Since 1986, he has been an artistic director at Chambers Stevens' TheatRevolution. He also was Artist in Residence at Belmont University. He directed three shows there. He also has spent a year of his life in the play "Midsummer Night's Dream Twice" as Puck. From 1986 to 1989, he acted at Nashville Repertory Theatre. In 1986 he also was hired by WSMV to play the title character in six PSA's called "The Steve Spots". Since 1990, Stevens also was CEO & Founder of his own company Chambers Stevens. Then, in 1991, he acted at Mark Taper Forum and was Imac Hand Model at Apple Computer Inc.
In works such as Magnificent Monologues for Kids and Sensational Scenes for Teens, Stevens provides short, original scenes that actors can memorize and use in audition situations. In Magnificent Monologues for Kids, for example, Stevens offers fifty-one short pieces, each a monologue ranging from half a page to a page and a half, dealing with issues of concern to children. The monologues are divided into those appropriate for girls and those appropriate for boys, and many of the monologues would be appropriate for either gender.
Chambers currently works as an acting coach in Hollywood and has been working with young actors across the country for more than 25 years.
Chambers Stevens is best known as a comedic actor whose experience as a children’s acting coach has led him to write a series of books for would-be child actors. He has appeared in over fifty commercials and many television shows. He's starred in The Steve Spots, which received six Emmys and a George Peabody Award, Funnybones, which received an Emmy for "Outstanding Children’s Program", and Geoscout, for which he received a personal Emmy nomination as "Outstanding Actor in a Children’s Series".
As a theater actor, Chambers has performed in over a hundred theater productions. He is the recipient of the Geoffrey Award for his portrayal of Drew in Eastern Standard and also received the prestigious Backstage Garland Award for his one-man show Desperate for Magic. Stevens also was the co-founder in 1988 of the Nashville Shakespeare Festival. In 1994 Chambers won the Back Stage Garland Award for his play Desperate for Magic a one-man show in which Stevens also starred.
Emmy Nominee Chambers Stevens has ten books in print. His Hollywood 101 series is published by Sandcastle Publishing. In the last eight years, Chambers has toured the country, doing workshops for over 100,000 actors across forty states. Chambers is one of Los Angeles' top acting coaches. He recently won 5 categories in Backstage Readers' Choice awards, including LA's Best Acting Coach. Chambers is the founder of The Nashville Shakespeare Festival now in its 25th year.
As a playwright, he has won both the Ingram Fellowship and the Tennessee Arts Commission Individual Artist Award. Chambers' latest play Twain and Shaw Do Lunch has already won numerous national awards including the Long Beach Playhouse Award for Best New Play as well as Best Comedy from The Palm Spring Int'l Playwriting Contest and received it’s world premiere at the prestigious New Theatre in Florida.
