In 1928, Chandra Sekhar Ghosh graduated from Calcutta University as an Honoured Bachelor of Science. In 1930, he became Master of Science in applied physics at Calcutta University. In 1946, he got a Master of Science Degree in electronic engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Chandra Sekhar Ghosh conducted research in dielectrics and specialized in power engineering. The scientist worked as Lecturer in Applied Physics at Calcutta University and as Professor of Electrical Engineering at Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore. Later, he was the head of the Electrical Engineering Department at Roorkee University (now Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee).
Ghosh was a fellow of the National Institute of Sciences of India, Royal Society of Arts in London. Chandra Sekhar Ghosh was a member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers in London, American Institute of Electrical Engineers, Indian Science Congress Association (President, Engineering and Metallurgy Section in 1958), Indian Standards Institution (Chairman, High Voltage Techniques Committee), Advisory Committee on Research (C.B.I.P.), State Large lndustry Advisory Board (U.P.).
